As the plants absorb as much CO2 during growth as is emitted during subsequent incineration, the direct CO2 emissions resulting from incineration are not included. This also applies to liquid and gaseous biofuels. Direct CH4 and N2O emissions from biomass combustion are based on values from Austria's National Inventory Report 2024 (UMWELTBUNDESAMT, 2024a) and the IPCC 2006 Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (IPCC, 2006).
